It's a very shady spot, surrounded by marvellous examples of holm oaks and oaks. It has often been a source of inspiration for popular tales and legends.
In this way, Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer set Aloges and Goges in les Estunes – fables about the Estany de Banyoles.
The Roser de Les Estunes, a popular meeting on Easter Sunday, would be held here in the 20s.
Getting here:
From Banyoles, take the Mieres and Santa Pau road. Just after leaving the city to the west, heading to Porqueres and coming into the Cal Germà stretch, there is a sign to Les Estunes to the left. Recently, Porqueres Town Council has signposted the spot, putting up information panels and signposting some trails. The signs carry a very nice anagram representing a Goja or fairy.
