This stroll around Orfes is a short route offering the chance to discover spots in the dam area and the nearest sites to the village, going across farmland.
Village entry road: Until the 50s and mid-60s, the entrances to villages in the Pla de l'Estany were filled with leafy trees – usually plane trees – which tempered the summer heat. The introduction of motor traffic meant many towns chose to cut down many of the trees, stating the aim was to avoid accidents. Orfes is a pretty village that was saved from the felling and is home to splendid plane trees on both sides of the road leading to the village.
Orfes Dam: In the early decades of the century, a dam was built here to provide electricity, which is presently not used. When it is dry, it may be used to cross the river and connect to the centre of Palol, within the municipality of Vilademuls. The riverside vegetation to both sides makes it a pretty spot to visit and discover.
