This trail starts in front of the Can Gifre estate where you may park your car. Afterwards, we head uphill on foot towards the Roca dels Capellans, following the shady wooded area of El Golany until the meadow of Sant Nicolau.
The Roca dels Capellans is the focal point for this trail, located in the dense forest under the Golany cliffs. It was a hiding place for deserters from both sides, as the coalman’s cabin was located just in front of the cave to give shelter to all refugees needing it.
Up to 21 individuals, between priests and civilians, lived together here at different stages between 1936 and 1939 who fled the persecution of war for various reasons. Families from Sant Miquel and Falgons provided food for the fugitives.
The trail is characterised by the large diversity of landscapes and traces. A section of the trail leading to the Roca de la Bauma or Roca dels Capellans is characterised by a deep abrupt difficult-to-access landscape. On the other hand, the section in Sant Miquel de Campmajor is more relaxed and can be taken easily to enjoy the landscape.
