Around the surrounding areas of Esponellà is a pleasant route through pleasant spots such as the camí de la central on the River Fluvià and major historic examples such as the remains of Esponellà castle. It is worth taking a stroll around the village of Esponellà where the rural character of past times is still preserved. Interesting Spots:MTB Centre Pla de l'Estany / Banyoles: The centre was set up in 1999 and has ideal equipment for mountainbiking (MTB) on a tourist and sporting level. It has 230 km of signposted bike trails with 4 different difficulty levels. It also has complementary services such as toilets, showers, bike-washing, bike hire, guides and a small repair workshop.
Camí de la central - Las Deus d'en Colomer Spring: This trail is bordered by a holm oak and pine forest on one side and riverside vegetation on the other, accompanied by the winding River Fluvià. It has the name Camí de la central as, taking the course of the river, three canals were built to produce electricity. The much-visited La Central Spring is at the beginning of the trail and has water practically throughout the year.
The Village of Esponellà: As in many other villages, the square is dominated by the majestic church of Sant Cebrià with, amongst other features, its characteristic Romanesque metalwork on the entrance. Down Carrer de la Font is the Fogar Rural Spedulias – the village’s civic centre. The Remains of
Esponellà Castle: The remains of the castle of Esponellà – currently being excavated and renovated – are in the highest part of the peak overlooking the village. Documented as far back as the 14th century, it was the municipal castle of the county of Besalú. Despite housing only the remains, its size and wall structure may be seen at some well-preserved sections
