The Region

Serinyà

The Serinyà area is located to the north of the Pla de l’Estany region, bordering La Garrotxa, in the lower River Ser valley and its confluence with the River Fluvià. Serinyà has one of the most important groups of prehistoric sites in Catalonia. The finds especially correspond to the upper Palaeolithic era, above all those in Reclau and Bora Gran d’en Carreres. The marvellous 12th-century church of Sant Andreu is the most emblematic building in the municipality and the Festa del Roser (Rose Festival) and Homenatge a la Vellesa (Homage to Old Age) held in Serinyà is one of the oldest in Catalonia.
